Mary Jane Wade Houston Haertel

Mary Jane Wade Houston Haertel passed from this life on Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was born to the late Lilly and Charles Wade on September 22, 1932. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Houston and her second husband Cecil Haertel Sr. Her brother David Wade also preceded her in death.

Mary Jane is survived by her sons Brad Houston (wife Karen and daughter Lennon) and David Haertel. She is also survived by step-children Betty Ann Eanes (son Jason and family) and Cecil Haertel Jr (sons Trey and family and son Keith). She is also survived by her brother Charles Wade (Jeannine and family). Mary Jane had 3 great grands as well.

She was a 1952 graduate of NHHS. She loved her family, her church and life itself. She was very proud of the many children she taught The Lord's Prayer to in her years teaching Sunday School.

The family will receive friends at the Andrews College Road location between 6 - 8 pm on Wednesday February 22, 2017.  A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church, 4 Live Oak Dr, Wrightsville Beach, NC.

The family would like to thank the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Ocean Trail Convalescent Center, and Martha's Adult Care.
