
Mary Lou Hoiss Hendrick of Wilmington, NC and formerly of Chapel Hill, NC, was reunited with her husband and son in heaven in unity with the Blessed Trinity, Friday, July 17, 2009. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Al and Mary Kilty Hoiss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Stanley Hendrick, her son, Philip Stanley Hendrick, Jr., and her sister, Joannie Clark. Mrs. Hendrick was a graduate of Mundelein College in Chicago, IL. She was employed as a lifeguard on the beaches of Chicago and worked with a group of women who performed choreographed water designs. She later was employed as a social worker in Chicago, and then Marshal Fields. Following World War II, she married Phillip Stanley Hendrick. Surviving are nine children, Rev. Matthew D. Hendrick of Wilmington, NC, Michael Hendrick and wife Ellen of Connecticut, Mary Duddy and husband Tom of Hawaii, Margaret Cole and husband Richard of Jacksonville, NC, Katie Hendrick and husband Rick Hoffman of Oregon, Mark Hendrick and wife Lisa of Greensboro, NC, Martha Armstrong and husband Rob of Asheville, NC, Liz Law of Atlanta, GA, and John Hendrick and wife Rieppe of Cary, NC; 22 grandchildren; 1great grandson; and two brothers, Tom Hoiss of Chicago, IL, and David Hoiss of Miami, FL. Her legacy is a family of love and service to her God and community. A wake will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at St. Mark Catholic Church A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 25, 2009 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Chapel Hill, NC by The Most Reverend Bishop Michael Burbidge.
