

Mary Mayo Starinsky, 81,of Rocky Point, Passed away on January 11, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.She was the beloved wife to Benjamin Starinsky for 38 years.They were soulmates and best friends.
She was born on May 23rd, 1935 to the late George and Alice (Curtis) Mayo in Wimpole, Cambridgeshire, England. Mary worked as a coronary care technician for NHRMC until her retirement. She was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC for 12 years after moving back to North Carolina from Florida.For the last 10 years she volunteered at St. Pauls every Tuesday and whenever they needed her. She enjoyed being a part of the St. Pauls family and will rest in peace there.
Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her Children, Phylllis Elvina Hixson of Rocky Point, NC; James David Hixson (Leigh H. Hixson) of Darlington, SC; Katherine Hixson Dewhurst (John Dacuk) of Toronto, Canada; Jennifer Hixson Phelps (Allen Phelps) of Rocky Point, NC;Elizabeth Smith of Castle Hayne, NC and Patricia Hixson Giddings (Jon Giddings). She is also Survived by 9 Grandchildren, Steven James Yopp (Mandy Marshall); Megahn L. Hixson (Myron Bess); V. Scott Hixson (Katie Hixson); Samantha C. Rodriguez (Anthony Rodriguez); Kenneth P. Mack (Yvonne Mack); Ross D. Mack; Allison R. Hixson; Bryan G. Cerasani and Joshua B. Giddings. along with Her 3 Great Grandchildren; Parker S. Hixson, Aleigha Bess, Ellie G. Hixson and many, many true friends and family both here and in England.
She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth George Hixson.
She was Loving; She was kind spirited; She was adoringly contagious; She could always light up the room; She will always be our Nanna Banana;She was witty and full of personality; She welcomed everyone as family; She was whimsical and a wonderfully supportive Mom, Nanna, friend. We were all of her favorites; She was the best Mother-in-law; She had naturally curly hair and according to her, we all did too; She was a loving, caring Mother and a sweet Nanna; She was everyones rock and as she would say, "I love you all dearly. Be strong, be safe, be blessed and have a wonderful aaaaaffternooon."
Her Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 21, 2017. It will be at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12 N. 6th St, Wilmington, With the Rev. Mark A. Opgrand officiating.
