MaryAnn was born on May 7th, 1937, in Worcester, MA to Anna and Zigmund Starvasky. MaryAnn left high school to help support her family after her father had a horrible accident at work which ended his career. She married Louis Gary Moore on February 5th, 1954, and created the legacy of her family.
MaryAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Zigmund Starvasky; her sister, Carole Kissel; her son-in-law, Dale Price and her grandson Christian Price.
She left behind a large and loving family who she was so very proud of. These survivors include her children Michael Moore (Donna), Bill Moore (Kathy), Mark Moore (Heidi), Trish Price and Brian Moore (Kim) as well as an abundance of grandchildren; Gregory Moore (Erica), Stephen Moore, William Moore, Sarah Moore, Desiree Moore (Jared), Paris Soto Moore (Jose’), Cherie Moore, Halle Moore, Christopher Price, Ashton Price, and Ashlyn Moore and four great grandchildren: Emma and Bennett Moore and Javier and Rio Soto-Moore.
From the time she left school she always worked even while raising her family. She had many jobs over the years in retail, worked as a volunteer in the emergency room at the hospital relaying information to anxious families. From there she became a CNA where she worked at a retirement facility and later transferred to the Alzheimer unit caring for patients. After moving to Charlotte, NC, she again joined the retail world. Everywhere she worked she created a special bond with her coworkers and thought of them as extended family.
She was always very active with her family and involved with their activities as a den mother with the Boy Scouts or cookie drive mother with the Girl Scouts. She always knew where her children were and who their friends were. You always knew she was in the stands during events cheering her children and grandchildren on.
She always loved the outdoors from climbing trees as a child, roller skating, to working the large family garden in Round Hill. Summers were spent camping all over the country and she always made it feel like home. She loved working in her yard, watching her flowers grow and could sit and watch the birds for hours.
She was an active member of the Red Hats/Purple Violets group in Charlotte were she made lifelong friends with these ladies and looked forward to their monthly get togethers. She stayed in contact with these ladies until the end.
No matter where she went, she always made lifelong friends and made lasting memories. We will hold these memories close to our breaking hearts and treasure these memories to share with our ever growing family. You will always be missed and never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Impact Church, 3131 Randall Parkway, Wilmington, NC 28403 at 6:00 pm.
