Michael Greenwood

Michael L. Greenwood, 65, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023, with his family at his side in Wilmington, North Carolina. Before moving to Wilmington, Michael lived in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, for 28 years and retired as the owner of Cumberland Masonry Inc. Michael was a loving, caring husband, brother, father, friend, and mentor. Mike spent his time curiously learning, catching up with friends, listening to music, freshwater fishing, and watching a good NFL game. He sincerely enjoyed spending time with his family and four dogs, Pearl, Lilly, Chunky, and Lucy, which were a great comfort during his battle with cancer. Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynn; son, Stephen of Los Angeles; brother, Gary of Hope Mills; mother-in-law, Pat Wilson of Wilmington; brother and sister-in-law, Worth Jr. and Leigh Wilson of Raleigh; nieces, Sarah, Lisa, Heather, and Michelle; and many special friends. Michael is preceded by his parents, Billy and Margaret, and brother Larry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Winter Park Baptist Church, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, the American Cancer Society, or a charity close to your heart. A celebration of life for family and friends will occur at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, at Winter Park Baptist Church at 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC, 28403.
