Michael M. Morris
Michael Monzo Morris of Rocky Point, North Carolina passed away at the age of 75 on January 28, 2020. Mike was born on January 30, 1944 in Bentonville, NC to the late Gardner and Gertrude Morris. He received a B.S. degree in Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1967, and retired from the industry after 45 years of providing services in Wilmington and surrounding areas.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Morris; his daughters, Manda and Meghan Morris; his brother, Kenny Morris; and so many other family members and friends.
Mike was a loving husband and dedicated father of two daughters. As a husband, Mike was a soulmate, a rock, and everything to his wife Pam. He was a gentle and caring man with a big heart. He was a wonderful listener and offered his compassionate words always at the time when they were needed. As a father, he was blessed with having to put up with two girls who often drove him crazy, and he loved them with all his heart. He instilled in his daughters a curiosity of knowledge, a profound work ethic, and the importance of having compassion for others. At any moment and at any time, if he was needed, he was there to lend his hands, heart, and head. He was a father his daughters could turn to for so many things. As a brother, he was caring and always someone who could be depended on.
He was a man of few words at times but also a man dedicated to the art of service in so many forms for so many people. His passions expanded far and wide and were directly linked to all of the varied services he provided to others. As a longtime member of First Christian Church, he was an Elder, a Deacon, property chair, treasurer, board member, and a member of the Christian Men’s Fellowship. Not only did he devote his time to the church, but he always made time to help his family and friends. From solving some of the most difficult problems, to building motors for friends’ race cars, to fixing issues with any kind of motor or engine that needed repair, to turning the earth in order to have vegetables to share with anyone who would appreciate his labors of love, he made us all feel cared for, loved, and cherished. In each avenue of his passions, he cultivated a circle of close friends. His strength, humility, and compassion impacted everyone he came in contact with. He had such warm relationships with all who spent time with him. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be held at First Christian Church, located at 2035 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 8, 2020. The visitation will be held at 1:00 pm and a celebration of his life will follow at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) on their website at https://www.warmnc.org/ or by check that can be sent to 5058 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC, 28405.
