Michael ""Mike"" Smith Michael ""Mike"" Lamar Smith, 33, of Winnabow, died Thursday, March 24, 2011. Mike was born July 1, 1977 in Gadsden, AL, son of Milford E. Smith and Carol Conner Gregory. His maternal grandfather, Harold E. Conner, and paternal grandparents, Gene and Milford Smith, preceded him in death. In celebration of a gentle soul, Michael Lamar Smith, who loved life, his family and friends. He brought joy to the many lives he touched. His light shines on in those he loved and adored, his many friends and family. He was always ready to give a big hug and ask with genuine empathy and compassion for others: ""Hey! How are you doing?"" He will be missed greatly but his life will be celebrated and his memory cherished by all who loved him. Thank you, Mike, for gracing us with your beautiful light for 33 years. He is survived by his mother, Carol C. Gregory Roy of Winnabow, NC; his father, Milford E. Smith Peggy of Wilmington; sister, Keri Walker Jimmy of Wilmington; two nieces, Halie and Kaitlyn Walker; grandmother, Juanita Conner of Attalla, AL; very special friend, Tabitha Hall and her son, Kacey Hewlett; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm Monday, March 28, 2011, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2pm Monday in Oleander Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rob Lapp officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Michael's name may be made to Paw's Place, 3701 E. Boiling Spring Road, Winnabow, NC 28479.
