December 9, 1941 – October 27, 2026
Mina Evalon “Pat” Fowler, 84, of Riegelwood, North Carolina, passed away on October 27, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, wisdom, and beautiful memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Born on December 9, 1941, to the late Letch Combs and Irene Burgess Combs, Pat was a woman with a heart of gold, a quick wit, and a personality that was truly one of a kind.
Pat had a special gift for making people feel loved, heard, and understood. She was the person everyone turned to for advice, a listening ear, or simply a good laugh. She was never one to sugarcoat the truth, and if you asked for her opinion, you could count on getting it — whether you were ready to hear it or not! But behind her honesty was a heart full of love and a genuine desire to see the people she cared about happy.
Her sense of humor was unforgettable. She could find laughter in the simplest moments, brighten even the hardest days, and leave everyone around her smiling. She had a way of making ordinary moments memorable, and those who knew her will forever remember her laughter, her honesty, and the joy she brought into their lives.
Pat enjoyed arts and crafts, dancing, bowling, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her beloved animals. But above all else, her greatest joy was her family. Nothing made her happier than having the people she loved gathered together, sharing stories, making memories, and filling the room with laughter.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Mawmaw” and “Grammy Pat.” She was so much more than a grandmother. She was a confidante, a source of strength, a listening ear, and someone they could always count on. She gave advice freely, loved unconditionally, and never hesitated to tell them exactly what she thought. Her wisdom, humor, and unwavering love were gifts that will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene N. Fowler; parents, her brothers, Russell, Frank, and Michael; her sisters, Dean, Myrtle, and Helen; and her longtime companion, Earl “Slim” Meredith.
She is survived by her loving children, Tina Irene Lee, Preston Scott Fowler (Michele), and Teresa Millington (Mark); her cherished grandchildren, Michael Suggs (Diane), Britnee’ Lee (Jesse), Kendall Fowler (Jackie), Christopher Fowler, Alysha Head, Alyssa Fronk, Jonna Smith(JonMark), Michael Stweart, Evan Stewart; and her precious great-grandchildren, Nathan, Lexi, Eva, Hailey, Kenzi, Jessi, Jonah, Nora, Jett, and Jagger.
Although her family would give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more hug, or one more piece of her advice, they find comfort in knowing that the love she gave will never leave them.
Her voice may be quiet now, but her words will continue to guide them. Her laughter may no longer fill the room, but the memories of it will forever bring smiles. And while her family must learn to live without her physical presence, they will never have to live without her love.
Because someone like Pat doesn’t simply leave this world. She leaves a little of herself in everyone lucky enough to have loved her.
Her family will carry her memory forward in the stories they share, the laughter that brings them together, and the love they continue to pass from one generation to the next.
She will be loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and remembered for a lifetime.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Kristin Lee.
