Her parents were Tylon Eldridge and Gladys Katherine Peterson, who preceded her in death. She married Marvin Eugene Scott at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in 1953 and served her husband and family as a devoted homemaker.
As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, through the years she attended Goshen Baptist Church, Masonboro Baptist Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Winter Park Presbyterian Church where she and her husband had wed. She served in ministry as a Sunday School teacher and choir member, exemplifying Christ's love and kindness.
She is survived by her three children: son, Ken Scott (Janice) of Newark, DE, daughter, Katherine Storey (Jan) of Huntersville, NC, and daughter, Genie Earp (David) of Cape Carteret, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Chris Scott, Saralyn Harris (Rob), Nathan Storey (Laura), Shannon Mojica (Michael), and Rachel Earp (Cindy); seven great-grandchildren: Elias & Owen (their mother, Maria Scott); Oliver & Tylon; Molly & Ben; and Shepherd. In addition, she is survived by three sisters-in-law: Betty Peterson of Chesapeake, VA, Charlotte Rochelle and Mary Ann Yeo of Wilmington, NC and many special nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Eugene; brother, L.W. (Pete) Peterson; father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Nora Scott; and brothers-in-law, Robert Scott and Robert Rochelle.
While dementia caused her to slip away from us in her final years, she remained unfailingly sweet, loving and thankful.
We offer special thanks to the nurses and staff of Liberty Hospice of Mecklenburg County, who cared for her graciously, and to her “Visiting Angel”, Linda R.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 12:30pm at Winter Park Presbyterian Church on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington, NC. A reception will follow in Chadbourn Hall at the church with burial at Oleander Memorial Gardens to follow.
"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31:29-31
