

Mrs. Myrtle Williams, age 93, of Wilmington, passed away December 22, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27 at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Dodson and Pastor Patricia Cox officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Williams was born August 24, 1918 in Sampson County, a daughter of the late Braston and Irene Bass. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Roy Gibson Williams Sr. Mrs. Williams retired from the city of Wilmington where she proudly served as a secretary for three fire chiefs. Her love of tap dancing with her Senior Tappers, the ability to sit at the piano and play any song you wanted to hear and sing that song like a lark, will make her a big star in heaven.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey Glenn Williams and wife Gail of Shallotte and Gib Williams Jr. and future wife Linda Sheppard of Pinehurst; five grandchildren, Kristen Crossley, Megan Emery, Britt Williams, Heather Toth and Toby Williams; and eight grandchildren.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Onzolo Bass and Glenn Bass.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 26 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, Oleander Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to First Health Hospice, P.O. Box 5889, Pinehurst, NC, 28374 in Myrtle’s memory.
Mom you will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure to know you. By the time this article hits the paper you will be playing the piano with dad sitting by your side, Mr. Braston will be picking the banjo and Mrs. Irene, Uncle Onz and Uncle Glenn will be dancing the jig- All having the time of your life.
