Nancy attended Converse College of Spartanburg, SC and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. There she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and on the staff of the Daily Tarheel Newspaper. She took her first job at the Lexington Dispatch Daily Newspaper in Lexington, NC where she met and married Dr. James Franklin Hulin. After a time in the Navy in California, they settled in Sanford, NC where Dr. Hulin practiced dentistry.
In 1972 Nancy relocated to Wilmington, NC where she worked at New Hanover Memorial Hospital in the Quality Review department for almost 20 years. She then retired to Carolina Beach, NC and became a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Her greatest passion then became walking and talking daily with her dear neighbors.
She left to cherish her memory her daughter, Cheryle Hulin Brown, husband Joe and two granddaughters, Morgann Elizabeth Brown Loposay and Bonnie Caroline Brown of Knightdale, NC; her son, James Franklin Hulin, Jr. and wife Ellen and two granddaughters, Madeline Estelle Hulin of Shanghai, China and Elizabeth Ann Hulin of the home in Jamestown, NC; nieces, Laura Warren Bowles of McLean, VA, Belinda Horner Cooper of Hampstead, NC, and nephew William Edwin Horner, III of Sanford, NC.
Nancy was a member of the greatest and strongest generation and leaves behind many friends whom she loved dearly and always ended every conversation with those three words we are now so thankful to have heard so often, “I love you!”
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach, NC.
