Patricia “Patty” Ann Marks King met her heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 16th at 8:20 a.m. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Kirby S. King Jr.; her parents Eugene and Jeanette Parker Marks; her daughter Lisa Ann Grady and her brother Ken Marks. Patty is survived by her devoted daughters, Suzanne Jones (Ray) and Kristy Ramsay (Rusty); her granddaughters Stephanie Cales (Greg), Kirsten and Paige Ramsay, and great granddaughter Elaina Cales. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Patty and Kirby met at General Electric from where they both later retired. They were married in 1977 at Living Water Ministries (formerly Odgen Advent Christian Church) where Patty stepped into the role of wife and loving Mom to Suzanne and Kristy. Patty was the true definition of a loving, Christian wife, Mom and grandmother. Her sweet spirit would always shine through each and every day of her life, a true witness to all those around her. From spoiling her husband Kirby and her daughters, to absolutely “ruining” her granddaughters, she absolutely showed her family the true definition of love. She never missed ballgames, school events, graduations, or concerts that her daughters or grandchildren were involved in. She also enjoyed the monthly Parker family dinners and reunions and always enjoyed the fellowship with this extended family.
She was a member of Living Water Ministries where she and her husband became lifelong friends with Reverend H.R. Crocker (until his passing) and his wife Ms. Ginny. Patty and Ginny spent many Friday nights at the mall shopping as the men folk enjoyed a lot of people watching. Living Water Ministries was such a special place of worship to her and she dedicated herself to not only attending there but to serving in many areas as well.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Monday, July 22nd from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life immediately following at Andrews Mortuary and Crematory located at 1617 Market St. Her burial will be at Oleander Memorial Gardens immediately thereafter. For those of you who may be attending Patty’s celebration of life, we are requesting that you wear something pink. Pink was her absolute favorite color and we’d like to honor her with this small tribute.
Pallbearers will be Richard Marks, Jared King. Michael Talton, Leroy Taylor, Lee Taylor and Harrison Taylor. To them, we are most grateful.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Davis Community/Memory Care area located at 1011 Porters Neck Road, Wilm. NC 28411 where the staff showed her so much love, care and attention over the last 15 months. The family is deeply appreciative of the special care given to Patty and the love they extended to her.
Even though we will miss her greatly, we are reminded of the following verse that brings us all great comfort- “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me, will never die.” -John 11:25-26. For those who are believers, we know we will see her again.
