For God so Loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) On Wednesday, October 18th at 11:25 pm, Patricia “Trish” Strickland claimed that promise and began her eternity in Heaven.
Patricia Lynn Bostick Strickland was born to Bruce and Edith Bostick of Raleigh, NC on May 5, 1956, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Trish, a devoted wife, spent the first number of years of her married life in Greenville, NC. There as graduate of Appalachian State University, she worked a number of years as an administrative clerk for Administrative Law Judges with Social Security. After that, until her move to Wilmington, NC she owned and operated a successful and much sought after wedding cake design business. But it came to be clear to her after moving to Wilmington that her real passion and true calling in life was to become involved in lay ministry, not only within her own church but often with many other churches. Whether it was leading and developing plans to secure funds to purchase a church bus, to organize and promote events promoting women’s ministries, or working to sponsor and promote video simulcasts, these are the things that brought her the most joy and satisfaction in life.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Strickland and sister Emily Bostick Temple.
Both visitation and funeral services will be held at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel at 4108 S. College Rd, Wilmington, NC. Visitation will be Sunday, October 22 from 4-6pm, with funeral services Monday, October 23 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials may be made to Dixon Chapel U.M.C, 190 Varnamtown Rd. S.W., Supply, NC 28462
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center for all their aid and kindness shown to Trish.
