Paula Marshburn Holland

Paula Marshburn Holland, 56, of Carolina Beach, passed away April 25, 2010, at her residence. She was born December 4, 1953, in Wilmington, to the late Lamuel Hugh and Annie Bannerman Marshburn. Paula graduated from Hoggard High School in 1972 and UNCW in 1978. She taught at Carolina Beach Elementary School for 29 years. During the course of her career, she was honored as ?Teacher of the Year 2007-08?, Outstanding Elementary Mathematics Teacher 2005 and received a Certificate of Recognition from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards 2005. She was a member of Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she was in the choir and on the worship team. She was also a volunteer at the Help Center at Carolina Beach. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Brad Holland; son, Bradley Paul Holland of Carolina Beach; daughter, Elizabeth Joelle Holland of Greenville, NC; sisters, Laurie Taylor and Susie Marshburn of Carolina Beach and nephews, William Chappell of Atlanta, GA and Michael Chappell of Omaha, NE. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm, Monday, April 26, 2010, at Andrews Mortuary Market St. Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Burgaw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carolina Beach Elementary School, Paula Holland Memorial Fund.
