Peggy Sue Clark Connell

She was born 28 July 1934 in Albemarle, North Carolina as Peggy Sue Clark.  She was the daughter of the late Barney and Verona Clark.  She had 6 brothers and 2 sisters all of whom predeceased her.

Granny is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Clark Connell, Sr. who is affectionately called “Papa”.  Granny and Papa had five children: four daughters -  Jacquelin Connell Pennington,  Su-Anne Connell Avant,  Vanecia Watson and Belinda Baker and a son - Thomas Clark Connell Jr.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.  She will be dearly missed by everyone.

Granny married Papa in September 1953 and as of the date she was called home to be with the Lord, she and Papa had been married almost 70 years.   Their long marriage is an everlasting testament to their faith in God and in each other. 

Granny worked outside the home during the early years of their marriage but she soon left the workforce to do the hardest and dearest job of them all: Wife, Mother, Homemaker and Granny.

The family will receive friends at her beloved church, Pine Valley United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. on 15 June 2023. The funeral service will be  conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves at the church at 1:00 pm  immediately following the visitation.  Granny will be laid to eternal rest at the conclusion of the service  at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family gives thanks to Pine Valley United Methodist Church for their support, kindness and prayers during this sad occasion.
