
She was born on December 21, 1937, to Rudolph and Ellen Kure Konig,
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jemison Williams DuRant. Along with Captain Jem, she spent many years in Wilmington where they divided their time between their home in Lincoln Forest and their home away from home on Pier 3 at Bradley Creek Marina aboard their beloved boat DRIFTER. Peggy’s love of boating, her many trips up and down the waterways and her delight in gardening will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Mary Ellen DuRant of Rutherfordton, son Jem DuRant (Tammy) of Wilmington, and son Earl DuRant (Paula) of Sneads Ferry; four grandchildren, Heather DuRant of Hampstead, Jordan Trader (Tim) of Wilmington, Haley King (Mark) of Maple Hill and T. C. Smith (Becca) of Riegelwood; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Nance, Coleman DuRant Smith and Allison King.
The family will lay Peggy to rest in a private graveside service.
