

He was born on July 3, 1939 to Andrew Hamilton Perry and Ella Nelson Perry. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Ann Perry in 1984.
He is survived by his children, Karen Denise Adams, Phillip Luther “Chip” Perry, Jr (Sonya), Cindy Ann Beasley (Rickey), Norman Andrew “Andy” Perry (Paula) and Gaston Hamilton Perry; his grandchildren, Tara Nicole Watkins (Jeremy), Daniel Phillip Perry and Preston Luther Perry; his 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda Kaye Vezina (Bert, Sr.); his significant other, Kim Layne; and his canine companion, Paps.
Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Army with Special Operations in Japan. He spent the last 48 years as Detective with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, achieving the rank of Captain and headed the Cold Case File Unit.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing, and loved to sit on his front porch at camp. In his leisure, he liked to carry Kim dancing. He was a great family man who was recently converted from Democrat to Republican.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at First Baptist Church of Leland, 517 Village Rd NE, Leland, NC 28451. Interment will follow at Nelson Family Cemetery in Leland.
