Phyllis Mary Ball

We lost our beloved mother, Phyllis Mary Sears Dahlstrom Ball on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She passed away with dignity and grace after a 3 month battle with pancreatic cancer at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. Mom was born in Lindsay, California on August 18, 1948 and was the oldest of five children to Edgar Ray Sears, Jr (1923 – 1977) and Frankie Imogene Shropshire Sears (1919 – 2001) of Jefferson City, Missouri. Her siblings are Melinda Lu Sears Oberhelman (1950 – 1990), Edith Ruth Sears Maddox, Edgar Ray Sears, III and James Joseph Sears. She was married to Kenneth Earl Dahlstrom II (1945 – 1994) in 1968 and they had three children, Kimberly Ann Dahlstrom, Nicole Lee Dahlstrom and Kenneth Earl Dahlstrom, III as well as two granddaughters, Evelyn Kimberly Shirilla and Danielle Rose Shirilla.

Mom married Frederick Louis Ball, Sr (1939 – 2016) in 1990 and was a proud stepmother and step grandparent to Frederick L Ball, Jr, Barbara Ball Peterson, Jordan M Ball, Morgan Peterson and Warren Peterson.

Throughout Mom’s life she has always been a selfless care giver to her family, friends and those in need. She has picked us up, dusted us off and pushed us in the right direction many times. In closing I think Danielle (Dani) said it best when she was five years old. As we pulled out of Grandma’s driveway she said to me, “That is a wonderful woman.”
