Phyllis Theodora Jones

Wilmington – Phyllis Theodora Jones, age 92, passed away in her sleep on September 11, 2023.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 2, 1931. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Hay Jones, and her sister, Barbara Hudgins.

Phyllis did her undergraduate work at Hobart William Smith College, and her graduate degrees at The City College, in NYC.   She and Tom married when Phyllis was 21, and they moved to Irvington, NY, and later Hastings-on-Hudson, NY to raise their family. Phyllis was a school psychologist who worked for the NYC school system, until both she and Tom retired, and moved to Wilmington, NC, where they spent 30 years enjoying the sun and their friends. Phyllis was happiest when traveling, and Tom and Phyllis traveled all over the world experiencing 15 years of foreign adventures.

She is survived by her children, Jocelyn Rossini (Steve) and David Jones (Bridgit), and three grandchildren, Alexander, Erik, and Zoia.

Services for Phyllis will be held privately, but a celebration of Phyllis and Tom’s life will be held this spring.
