Rachel Packer Watson

Born on August 23, 1931 in Cumberland County, N. C. to Curley Neal Packer (deceased) and Florence (Willoughby) Packer(deceased). Siblings preceding her in death are Emma Rae Lockamy, Douglas Earl Packer, Willie Curley Packer (Bill) and Charlie Hurbert Packer. Living siblings are Mildred Ethel Navarro (Lufkin, Tx) and Elsie Dean Smiley (Wilmington NC).

Rachel lived in New Hanover and Pender Counties and worked as a cook at several local restaurants.

Married to Talmadge Memory Watson, Jr. (deceased). Their children are Roger N. Raynor (Martha), Alice W. Matthews (Larry), Talmadge M, Watson. III (Tim) (Susie), George P. Watson (Debbie), Thomas M. Watson (Donna) all of Wilmington,N. C.

She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren, Mary Ann (Raynor) Taylor, Frank Raynor, Thomas (Jeff) Matthews, Robert (Jason) Matthews, Jonathan Matthews, James Matthews, Hidie Watson, Thomas (Mitchell) Watson Jr. ,Travis (Calab) Watson, Alysha Watson and Kelsey Carter. In addition she had ten great grandchildren that brought warm thoughts and big smiles.

Visitation will be at Coble-Ward Smith, 3915 Oleander Dr. Wilmington, NC on Thursday May 14 from 6p- 8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Coble-Ward Smith on Friday May 15 at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Cameron McGill.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Trinity Grove, and Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center for the care and support provided our family through Rachel's end of life journey.
