November 8, 1961 – November 17, 2023
62 years old
Randolph Franklin “Randy” Koch, of Marietta GA, transitioned from this life to be with his Lord Jesus on November 17, 2023 while visiting his 96-year-old mother in Carolina Beach, NC. He passed quietly in his sleep in the morning hours. Randy was born November 8, 1961 in Aiken, SC, to parents Edward Franklin Koch and Margaret Jane Myers Koch. He was the second of four children. He lived in Aiken until his senior year in high school. Because his father took an engineering position overseas, Randy spent his senior year of high school at TASIS boarding school in Greece, which undoubtedly helped fuel his love for adventure and exploring. He completed a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1985 from Clemson University, SC. Randy and Sandra Kay Brown were married on October 15, 1988 in Raleigh, NC. The majority of Randy’s professional career was spent working with, selling or supporting material testing equipment. He had a reputation in the industry for his extensive knowledge and patient demeanor. In his personal life, Randy was known for his big smile and big hugs, always kind and welcoming. He loved Jesus and his family well. He enjoyed playing his guitar and violin and engaging in just about any outdoor activity, especially hiking with his wife, Sandra Kay.
Randy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Kay Brown Koch; four children: daughter Hannah Elizabeth Koch of Marietta, GA, son Peter Edward Koch and Moriah M. Koch of Cumming, GA, son Thomas Andrew Koch of Marietta, GA, and son Timothy Randolph Koch of Marietta, GA; mother Margaret M. Koch of Carolina Beach, NC; brothers Robert Edward Koch of Carolina Beach, NC, and Richard Sheridan Koch and Teresa Koch of Wilmington, NC, and sister Mary Lynne Koch Labbe and Clark Labbe of Brunswick, ME; grandchild, Emma Faith Koch of Cumming, GA; his dog Henry, three cats, and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Randy’s life will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 1pm with Pastor Zack Carden officiating in the Grand Foyer at Riverstone Church, 2005 Stilesboro Rd NW, Kennesaw GA 30152. The family will commit the ashes on Monday morning before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a note be sent along with a fond or special memory of Randy to the home: Sandra Kay Koch, 123 Stone Mill Lane NW, Marietta GA 30064.
