Randy Miller 

Heaven gained an angel on April 15, 2020 when Randy Miller passed away unexpectedly at age 27. Born in Westerly, Rhode Island on May 19, 1992, Randy spent his early years in Westerly and later moved to Holly Ridge, North Carolina where he lived with his devoted mom and stepdad, Yvette Aileen and Wade Green.

Randy inspired and helped create Able Buddies of North Carolina, a non-profit organization that promotes acceptance, love and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He had autism and while he did not speak, the legacy he leaves behind speaks volumes about him and the impact he had on his community. He could be found at ABNC’s monthly dances playing musical chairs with friends and smiling from ear to ear or sharing a sweet slow dance with his mama. He was occasionally spotted at a board meeting but was definitely more interested in the Denny’s breakfast than the business decisions! Randy loved a good song, a good blanket, a good watch, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Scooby Doo.

When Randy found a musical birthday card he loved, his laugh would take over the room. He loved spending time with his family and with his long-time caregiver and beloved “other mother”, Kizzy Pickett.

Randy is survived by his parents, Yvette Aileen and Wade Green, and Brian and Shelly Miller of Sallisaw OK, step-brothers, Jared (and niece, Mia) and Jonathan Green of North Carolina, step-sisters, Taylor Green of North Carolina, Jessica (Jordan) Mifflin of Oklahoma and Jennifer (Justin) McElhannon of Arkansas, honorary brother, Jeremiah Rowley, and best friend, Johnny Pickett of North Carolina. He also leaves behind his grandfather, Bob Miller of OK, aunts, Linda Fortune and Norma Daviau-Daniels, uncle, Don (Charlene) McClay all of RI, aunts, Cheryl Miller and Angela (Shawn) Walsh of MI, aunt, Andrea (Phil) Clark of VA, and uncle, Dan (Felicia) McArthur,  step-uncle, Gary (Sue) Green, step-aunt, Diane Hoyle all of NC, honorary aunt, Aris Wooten, and several other honorary Maple Hill family members, as well too many cousins to count.

He rests now in Heaven with his grandmothers, Charlotte Fortune, Sue Swan, Beth Miller, grandfather, Donald McClay, step-grandparents, Reverend LG and Eleanor Green, uncles, Warren Fortune and Ron Fortune, aunt, Beatrice King, and honorary grandmother, Abigail Pickett.

Randy is a hero and will be saving several lives through organ donation, proving that you don’t have to have a voice to change the world.

The funeral service will be private due to current restrictions on gatherings, with a memorial service for friends and family to be held at a later date.
