Rebecca "Becky" Jane Johnson

Rebecca (Becky) was born August 19, 1942 in High Point, NC to Charles and Martha Caddell. She graduated from High Point High School in High Point, NC. She was Miss High Point in 1960. She then attended and graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College (University) in Hickory, NC.

Becky was a teacher in the NC school system for 29 years. She taught in Wilmington; however, the majority of her years were at the Carolina Beach Elementary School.

She was a member of the Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir and assisted with the children’s choir for several years. She loved music very much and taught piano lessons for a few years at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Caddell, her stepfather, Stacy Hanes, and stepbrother, Mark Hanes.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry W. Johnson; daughter, Katherine (Nicki) Ryan and her children Conner, Kendrick, and Emerson; her son, Jack (Jay) Talbert (Jennie) and their children Jack and Eliza; stepdaughter, Amy Bailey (Scott) and their daughter Hannah.

A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church. Becky’s funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
