Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Keith was the son of Larry Wilson George (Deceased) and Charlotte Levon George Levon later married Thomas Hobbs of Wilmington, NC who raised Keith as his son.
Keith served as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1991, and proudly served aboard both the U.S.S. William F. Morrison and the U.S.S. Independence during the Gulf War. He proudly obtained his Fleet Marine Force (FMF) qualification and earned many awards. He very much enjoyed life aboard the aircraft carrier Independence and spoke of it often.
Keith is survived by his father and mother, Tom and Levon Hobbs (Supply, NC), his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Elaine George (Wilmington, NC), his son Thomas George (Wilmington, NC), his fiance’ Jo Storey (Wilmington, NC), his niece Brandy (George) Juhl of Phoenix, AZ, a great-nephew Jacob, and two great-nieces, Rebecca, and Charlotte, all of whom he loved very much.
Keith loved to Golf and Bowl and won many trophies doing so. He and Jimmy Cozine won the Fort Knox MOAA Pro Am Invitational golf tournament. Keith also earned a “300” ring by bowling a perfect score of 300 during one of his bowling tournaments. He enjoyed showing others the joy of golf and bowling.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A service with military honors , officiated by Rev. Jerry Barnes will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 at the Chapel of Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
