

Richard Caulfield Hawkins, 70, passed away July 8th, 2011 at Duke University Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on August 5, 1940 to the late Leslie R.N. and Helen F. Hawkins in Montclair, New Jersey. A graduate of Lehigh University, Dick received a BA in European History before launching his career as a Human Resources executive in major manufacturing, 23 years of which were spent in Pittsburgh, PA. Dick?s legendary love of tennis was second only to his intense passion for his family. In 1964, Dick married the love of his life, Margaret A. Peggy Hawkins who survives him along with their two daughters, Kristin Bair of Philadelphia, PA and Karin Reed of Wake Forest, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Derith Antrim, wife of James Antrim of Rolling Hills Estates, California, his sons-in-law John Bair and Shawn Reed as well as four grandchildren. Fond memories include time spent body surfing at various east coast beaches, winters in Key Biscayne and serving as head cheerleader of any accomplishment by his adored family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. A memorial service celebrating Dick?s life will be held Monday, July 11th at 11 AM at the Frank H.
