Richard Warren Machler

Richard Warren Machler, 88, of Wilmington, NC, passed away May 9, 2023. He was born January 11, 1935 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Henry Machler and Evelyn Duffus Machler. Richard was a devoted husband and great friend to his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn Caisse Machler, originally of Westfield, MA.

Richard joined the U.S. Navy as a seaman and served on the USS Vulcan AR-5 from January 1955-1957.

He is survived by his sister, Judy and Frank Keever; sons, Michael and long-term partner Susan Barlow, Scott, Dean, and Todd and his wife Belinda Machler; grandchildren, Tiffany, Maegan, Nicholas, and Heather; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Roscoe.

Richard was blessed with a special friend and companion, Tracy Eames, who helped enrich his life as he spent the last several years in his own home with a great sense of independence and pride. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lower Cape Fear Life Care and their entire nursing staff.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, located at 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.
