Rick Walsh of Wilmington, N.C. passed peacefully on Monday, January 26, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. He was born on October 14, 1943 in Staten Island, NY, to Lawrence and Dorothy Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Bernice "Berni" Walsh to whom he was married for 33 years. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Mary Alice) Walsh; three children; Ricky (Linda) Walsh, Judy (Craig) Marshall and Meg (Bobby) Breland, and grandchildren; Katie, Julia, Lizzy, Cassidy, Connor, Collin, Abbi and Chloe. Rick lived in South Jersey before retiring to Wilmington eight years ago. He graduated from St. Francis University and was a long time Financial Advisor, prior to retirement. Rick moved to Wilmington for the fishing, the golf and the good weather. It soon became apparent that fishing wasn't his forte. As a matter of fact, golf wasn't either. The weather was nice though. Along the way, he realized he had a special talent for wood sculpting. His sculptures grace the homes of many of his neighbors. He was loved by friends, family and neighborhood dogs. He will be missed. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their support and care. Memorial services will be held 3 pm, February 21, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
