He was a hard worker, working diligently at M2 Services LLC and previously at Harris Teeter. Even outside these roles he was always assisting neighbors and friends with various jobs. He loved detailing and customizing cars with his friends. Ricky was naturally athletic and excelled in any sport he attempted. He was competitive and enjoyed football, basketball, playing pool, bowling, and soccer. He had a great sense of humor and a natural ability to connect with people. He formed friends wherever he went. Ricky was quick to make others smile and it was a joy to make him laugh.
He is survived by his parents, John and Heather Shelton, his siblings, Joshua, Trinity, Brady, Bonnie, Sofia, Alijah, and Ellie Shelton, his Mema and Granddaddy, Shirley and David Andrews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others who love and have been impacted by Ricky are invited and welcome to attend a service honoring his life at Scotts Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scotts Hill Loop Rd, Wilmington, NC 28411, at 2:00pm on Monday October 20th. Prior to the service at the church, the family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service hour. Following the church service, a brief graveside service will be held to place the urn in a columbarium niche at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC. All are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina to support adoption. Donations can be made online at https://www.bchfamily.org/one-time-donation
