Born January 22, 1933 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Edmond V. Pinto and Derna L. DeFabiis Pinto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Phillip Pinto, Sr. in 2013.
Bob proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. In earlier years, he worked for the Mayola Milk Co. making deliveries throughout the local area. He also worked as a stevedore foreman at the Wilmington State Ports docks. Bob was a strong believer of strong work ethics. His crowning achievement was being the owner of the finest furniture upholstery shop in Wilmington, ROANN CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY, for over 35 years. Over the years, several production companies called upon him to assist in building and creating custom sets for movies being made in the area. In his leisure, Bob enjoyed and collected model trains, his pets “Puddles” and “Gunny”, and was a history buff.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Edmond Pinto and companion Barbara Elaine Potter and Kenneth James Pinto and wife Twylah Johnson Pinto; his daughter, Doris Anne Pinto and companion Charles Howard; his brother, Andrew Robert Pinto; his nephew, Christopher Edmond Pinto; his grandchildren, Eric Pinto, John Pinto, Jr., Cynthia Pickett, Robert Thornton, Erin Thornton, Zachary Sarvis, Alex Howard, Thomas Howard, Carmen Gutierrez; his great-grandchildren; and friends, Mike and Julia Stephenson.
The Pinto family would like to honor Julia and Mike Stephenson for their many years of amiable friendship, companionship, and benevolent care. Our loving gratitude is extended to them for their support throughout Bob’s cancer journey in the last year of his life.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Andrews Market Street Chapel.
