Colonel Robert Hobson Clemmons, Jr, 88, of Wilmington died on Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was born in Rocky Point, NC on November, 10, 1929 to Robert Clemmons and Lucy Pershake Clemmons.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Wasna Clemmons; brother Joseph Clemmons and sister Erma Lane.

Colonel Clemmons served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During that time he received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge in honor and recognition of his distinguished service to his country. Colonel Clemmons was very proud of his two sons for their service in the military and for his other son’s service to the Wilmington Police Department. He graduated from Wilmington College in 1967, known today as UNCW with a BA in Business Management.

He is survived by his wife Louise Moore Clemmons of the home; three sons: Robert and wife Teresa, Michael and wife Jan, and Timothy; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Steven, Jeffery and Maria, Hannah, Michael Jr and Heather, Sampson, Ariel, and Timothy Jr, and three great-grandchildren: Brodie, Sullie, and Avery.

A Visitation will be held from 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. The Funeral Service will be held 2PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rob Lapp officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with full Military Honors.

I have always heard you have one or two patients that are special and you will never forget them. Mr Clemmons was mine for sure. I will miss his war stories and our laughs. He was one amazing man. He loved his family and this Country the way everyone should.
I will greatly miss him.

Bob has been our neighbor for over 32 years. He has been a good neighbor and a very good man. We will miss the conversations over the years along the driveways.
