Robert Cortez "Corey" Bowen, III

Robert Cortez, “Corey” Bowen, III, 19, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at home. He was the son of Robert Cortez Bowen, Jr. and Tonna Yocom Bowen. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, John Yocom Bowen of the home; his paternal grandparents, Robert C. Bowen and Mary L. Bowen of Wilmington, NC; his maternal grandmother, JoRene Yocom of Wilmington, NC; three uncles, Michael Bowen of Valdosta, GA, Douglas Bowen of Ozark, MO, and Dr. John Barry Bowen of Hummelstown, Pa; and six cousins. Other survivors include great-aunts and uncles, Ann R. Payne and Loy Payne of Owasso, OK and Janelle and Frank Douglas of Shelbyville, TN. Corey was an honor graduate of Hoggard High School and was attending Cape Fear Community College, Wilmington, NC, at the time of his death. He was a loving, kind and compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was always ready to assist them when they needed help with chores or projects. He will be sorely missed. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church, 401 Grace Street, Wilmington, NC, by the Rev. Clyde Denny. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, NC.
