Robert Day

Robert Day "Bobby" Robert "Bobby" Bailey Day, 65, of Wilmington, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Davis Health Care Center. Bobby was born July 8, 1949 in Wilmington, NC, son of Elizabeth Bell Day and the late Fred N. Day, III. A sister, Beth Day, preceded him in death. Bobby graduated from New Hanover High School in 1967. He attended college for 2 years, and then served in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged November 15, 1972. He was part owner of Bell's Shoes and also was employed by Case Equipment. He loved his family, the beach, boating, fishing, and golfing. His outgoing personality garnered many friends. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Lara Day Brooks (Kenny) of Wallace, NC, and Jennifer Day Freeman (Rush) of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Will Brooks, Grace Dodd, Wright Dodd, and Emerson Freeman; and a brother, Fred N. Day, IV of Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Dr. Steve Spangler officiating.
