
Robert Eugene Sims, formerly of Wilmington, NC died Monday, June 29, 2009 in Jackson, CA. He was born in Cairo, IL, December 25, 1928 the son of the late John Wesley Sims, Jr and Tina Quinn Sims. Mr. Sims served in the US Army with the rank of Staff Sgt. during the Korean War and was wounded twice. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and a charter member of the World War II Memorial Foundation. He was also a member of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the National Riflemen's Association, and an honorary citizen of Boy's Town. He is survived by his wife Margaret Marie Clark Sims, three sons, Gary Eugene Sims and wife Sandra of Jackson, CA, Daniel Clay Sims and wife Nora of Sedona, AZ, and Jeffrey Shane Sims of Morgan, UT. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Alecia Marie Sims, Leah Crista Brown, Gregory Shane Sims, Robert James Sims, Laura Marie Sims, and Sarah Ashley Sims, and one brother Carl Frederick Dishinger, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 4 PM at Andrews Valley Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 6, 2009 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
