Robert David Fowler CMSgt USAF Ret., 83, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at his home. He retired from the US Air Force after 30 years of service to his country. After his retirement he attended UNCW and earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He worked in law enforcement at UNCW and the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Strickland Fowler. He is survived by Robert Fowler and wife, Janet of Cornelius, NC, Catherine Morris, Alice Wrench, Thomas Fowler and wife, Debby, Edward Fowler, nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Details of the service will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
