Robert Charles Jones

He was born in Cincinnati, OH, on October 14, 1931, son of the late Frank W. Jones and Anne Morton Jones.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Gray Jones; a brother, James Jones; and a bonus son, Alex Lewis.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired from General Electric after a thirty-five year career.  He was an avid golfer and a member of the Pine Valley Country Club for many years, and a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife, Mel Foy Jones; two children, Cindy Love, and David Jones (Beth); and three bonus children, Vince Lewis (Susan), Leslie Lewis, and Ginny Ives (Chad); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank W. Jones; sisters, Mary Alice Earls and Edna Evelyn Cutter; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Penny.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 30, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church, 1801 Market Street Wilmington, NC, with Dr. Mark E. Gaskins officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am Friday until the service hour.  Interment with military honors will follow at Oleander Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC.  Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Stephen Lewis, Robert Love, Taylor Jones, Ethan Love, Hunter Jones, David Love, and Ben Ives.
