

Robert “Bobby” Graham Merritt II, of Scotts Hill, passed away on February 19, 2021, to join his parents, Annabell Rice and Robert G. Merritt; his wife, Linda Barefoot Merritt, and his sister, Janet Turner, in the arms of the Lord.
Bobby was born November 17, 1941, in Wilmington NC. He leaves behind his brother, Mike (Rita) Merritt of Wrightsville Beach; beloved daughters, Michelle Merritt Mazur (Robert) of Elizabethtown, Nicole Merritt Landry (Pat) of Greensboro, and Lisa Shipp Register of Wilmington; his brother-in-law, Paul Turner of Wilmington, seven grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, Jacob, Lindsay, Cory, Cameron, and Krystina; four great-grandchildren, Jamison, Mila, Nash, and also Ethan along with his father, Mike Willis, and furry friend “Chipper” of the home, and numerous nieces, nephews.
Bobby was a graduate of New Hanover High School class of 1959, after which he joined the US Army, stationed in Germany, until he returned home and began his long career with Southern Bell until retirement. His life was full of his passions in hunting, drag racing, tournament fishing, boat racing and engine building…. enjoyed with his brother, Mike, while listening to “golden oldies.”
A graveside service and tribute parade of fellow classic car friends is scheduled for Friday, February 26 at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
