Robert Yost Mundy, Jr., 86, of Hampstead, NC passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born July 19, 1929 in Tazewell, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Yost Mundy, Sr. and Mildred Beaver Mundy. Mr. Mundy was a veteran of the Koran Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. His family were the most important element of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kazue (Terry) before her passing in 2006 after 58 years of marriage. He was a very knowledgeable fan of all sports; NASCAR, basketball, college sports and women’s golf were his favorites. He is survived by his daughter, Margie Bestul (Lynn) of Hampstead; a son, Robert Yost Mundy, III (Gina) of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Travis, Dustin, Kasey and Jennifer, 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Mundy (Lillian) of Winston Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made, in Robert’s name, to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
