He was born on September 3, 1942, in Seattle, WA, the son of the late Robert Selden Purvis, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Nichols Purvis.
Mr. Purvis retired from the Department of the Interior in Washington, DC, where he was a long time resident.
Surviving are two sisters, Libby Cullen and husband Cary of Wilmington, NC, and Thora Faigle of Lambertville, NJ; nieces and nephews, Thora Elizabeth Faigle, Jeffrey Fenlon Faigle and wife Taraneh Shamilzadeh Faigle, William Seldon Cullen and wife Kate, and Devon Cullen Merritt and husband William; great nieces and nephews, Thora Penelope Roberts, Eli Jeffrey Faigle, Miles Zachary Faigle and Sarah Elizabeth Gilbert.
Private family services will be held.
