The son of Barbara and Robert McKee Russell, Bob was born in Charlotte in August 1954. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, including duty with tank crews in Germany during the Cold War.
After his military service, Bob moved to Wilmington, where he met and married Carol (nee Moorse), his wife of 40 years. Together, they raised a daughter, Katherine “Katie” Russell of Chapel Hill.
In addition to Carol and Katie, Bob is survived by his mother Barbara, brother Reed, and sister Chris, who all reside in Charlotte. He was predeceased by his father.
Bob worked as an auto and truck mechanic in the Wilmington area. He enjoyed reading, leatherwork and military history. He also was an avid motorcyclist and active in the Concerned Bikers Association/ABATE.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church on Sunday January 21st at 3PM.
