

Robert "Bob" Schilling 81 of Wilmington, NC passed away on August 24, 2015 in Wilmington, NC after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 31, 1934 in Newnan, GA to William Thomas and Ora Lee Schilling. Bob had 4 brothers and a sister, WIlliam, Charles, James, David, and Nancy. Bob was married to his lovely wife Brenda Adelaide Barrett Schilling, on June 27, 1964, Farmville, NC. Their wonderful marriage was the pinnacle of marriages and lasted an amazing 51 years. Bob and Brenda's love for one another was witnessed by many but duplicated by none. Bob graduated from Manchester HighSchool and attended the University of Richmond. He served in the US Army and achieved many accolades including the medal for Military Merit. Bob and Brenda moved to Alexandria, VA after marrying where they enjoyed the birth to their bright baby girl, Margaret Lee Schilling. They eventually settled in Laurel, MD and enjoyed the birth of their son, Robert Barrett Schilling. The Schilling's lived in Laurel for 35 years where they made many loving and lasting friendships that are still going strong today. Bob and Brenda enjoyed the relationships established when Marlee married Victor Owen Roy August 8, 1992 and Bert married Bonnie Suzanne Brooks on July 1, 2006. Through many years of advice, support, and guidance Bob and Brenda were lucky to have many grandchildren. They were and continue to be their love, passion, and light of their life. Marlee and Vic gave them Ryan Gallagher Roy, as well as twins Amanda Grace Roy and Ashley Lucille Roy. Bert and Bonnie gave them Robert "Bo" Brooks Schilling and Bryce Everett Schilling. "Pop Pop" and "E" established and instilled love and moral values in their grandchildren that is unmatched and will last a lifetime. Pop Pop's presence and guidance will be felt by his grandchildren forever. Later in life, Bob reconnected with his first child, Laura Lee Baumann and enjoyed a wonderful connection with her and her husband, Robert E Baumann, Jr. A special mention to the Keefer's and Barrett's and their families for all their love and support over the years. Bob's nieces Beje Keefer, and Beverly Scurpa and their families Craig, Caroline, Matthew, and Hayden Keefer, and Scott, Katey Ann, Rachel, and Paige Scurpa and Edgar Paschall Barrett and Mary Ann Tilden Barrett. Thanks for all the cherished memories. Bob will love you all forever. Bob Schilling was the greatest husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, mentor and friend that many of us will ever know. His loving grace, kindness, patience, guidance, huge heart and memory will warm our hearts forever. We love you and will miss you so much, Pops, Rest in Peace. Bob's wishes were not flowers or donations but to take care of his loving wife Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, August 28, 2015 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
