It is with deep sorrow and loving reflection that we announce the peaceful passing of Roger Weigold, who passed in his sleep at home on June 16th, 2026. Roger was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 29th,1938 to Charlie and Grace Weigold who preceded him in death.
Roger is remembered for his dedication to his family and country, serving in the Army and then in his ongoing service to veterans. Roger had a deep sense of commitment and passion for serving veterans which he expressed in his service on the Board of Directors for the Battleship North Carolina, his work with the VFW and American Legion, and in his many projects memorializing veterans’ stories. His family is grateful for Roger sharing his love of music, history, travel, photography, faith, and sports (NY Yankees, NY Giants, NY Rangers, & Virginia Tech). Travel enriched Roger and his family during his civilian career as a Merchandise Manager for the Navy Exchange in Naples Italy, Orlando Florida, Severna Park, MD, and the Tidewater Virginia areas of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Each stop created endless memories that Roger was proud to create and share with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Georgene Weigold; his children, Doug (Tracey), Cassie (Bill), and Jeff (Karen); his grandchildren, Whitney, Ryan (Stephanie), Nicholas, and Meg (Alex); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Charlie, Elizabeth, and Matthew.
A celebration of life will be held at Saint James Episcopal Church on July 7th, 2026 at 11am followed by a reception at the church.
