Rosemary Pardieck Smith

Born on January 16,1943 in Columbus, Indiana.

Went to Heaven on July 24, 2026 in Wilmington, North Carolina in the warmth and surrounding love of her family home.

Rosemary's steadfast faith will forever be remembered. She was gentle, poised and gracious. Her kindheartedness will be sincerely missed.

She is survived by her sisters & best friends : Nancy Wentzel and Eloise Gahl, her son Robert (Rob) D. Smith and his wife Daphne, her daughter Margaret (Meg) C. Read and her husband Dan.

Rosemary adored her grandchildren : Bennett Read, James Read, Patrick Smith, Ellie Smith, Madelyn and Tim Watson, as well as her great-grandson Patrick Watson.

She was loved and cared for by her sister-in-law Christine Smith and will be remembered by her many brothers & sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews who affectionately looked up to their Aunt Rose. She had a quiet strength with a calming presence ; a role model to anyone who met her. She was such a lovely, soft and elegant person.

Rosemary is predeceased by her devoted husband of 53 years, Ronald (Ron) Smith who cherished her deeply, also by her parents Paul H. Pardieck & Edith C. Brauer, brother Steve Pardieck, as well as her brother-in-law, niece, two nephews, and great-niece.

Rose attended Valparaiso University where she met her husband and moved to Westchester, New York, then to the Foothills of North Carolina and finally to Wilmington, North Carolina.

She was an exceptional fiber artist. Her creativity was organized, detailed and awarded. Some of her favorite pieces were done with silk and metal threads in ecclesiastical designs which she donated to her church in Ridgefield, Connecticut and in Tryon, North Carolina.

Rosemary was selfless, charitable, an avid reader and excelled in home design. She and her husband believed wholeheartedly in volunteering and giving back. She gave her time and talent throughout her life, and to anyone who received it knew theirs was favored. She consistently supported : Feed the Children, Samaritan's Purse, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and Hospice.

Rosemary had an innate calmness and gracefulness. She loved red flowers, cardinals, her faithful dog "Charlie", and her equine companion "Lexi Rose".
