Roy Sears Hawkins, Jr.

Roy Sears Hawkins, Jr., 83, of Hampstead, NC, passed away on April 14, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Maureen Lois Hawkins for 57 years. He was born November 24, 1937, in Pensacola, FL, to the late Roy Sears Hawkins, Sr. and Inez Bennett Hawkins.

He worked hard to provide for his loving family. For most of his life he was a Project Manager in the construction industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking, along with big band and jazz music. He enjoyed a long history of playing his trumpet solo, and in bands. He was known to be a strict, but fair man.  Anyone who met him was better off for knowing him and he mellowed in his senior years.  He learned to love laughter. And he was known for his sweet nature.

Surviving are his children, David Hawkins, Patricia Warwick (Joe), Roger Hawkins (Barbie) and Kathy Wilcox; grandchildren, Jarrett Harley (Shayla), Catherine Harley, Chance Hawkins, Joey Warwick (Kana), Brent Warwick (Chandra) and Shan Marie Wilcox; sister, Carolyn Etheredge (Charles); and several nieces and nephews, with which he shared a special bond.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Sea Lawn Memorial Park at 11:00 am.
