Ruby Pearl Brown Ruby Pearl Brown, 80, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Ruby was born October 26, 1931 in Clinton, NC, daughter of the late John Henry Vann and Fannie Register Vann. Two sisters, Thelma Wood and Pauline Wood, and two brothers, William Vann and Henry Lee Vann, preceded her in death. Mrs. Brown was an awesome gardener, farmer and cook and loved flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Ruby was a spiritual mother of independent means. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ward and Paulette Brown, both of Wilmington; grandson, Shaun Ward; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Monday, January 2, 2012, at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington. A funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Rev. Wayne Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
