Sally graduated from Seward Park High in NYC at 15 years of age. She went on to attain a B.A. at Brooklyn College. Sally received a Masters of Library Science from S.U.N.Y. Albany. She was the former director of the Crawford Library in Monticello, and also worked as a librarian for Monticello School District and SUNY Sullivan NY. Her passion was books and introducing others to the joy of reading.
Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Emanuel Gellman, and her two brothers and sisters, she is survived by her loving daughters Dr. Michelle Appelbaum and her husband Joel of Orange County, NY, Lauren Tucker and her husband Sheldon of Wilmington, two grandchildren; Edward Appelbaum of Houston, TX and Jessica Tucker of Wilmington.
Sally was a member of the Garden Club, B’Nai Israel Synagogue, and Jewish Women International. She loved the arts, museums, music, and theatre and history.
A funeral service will be held graveside at 11:30am on October 4, 2018 at B’Nai Israel Cemetery with burial following.
