Sandra Phylis Baker Horrell

Sandra was married to Jimmy Lee Horrell, Sr. and together they built a life they loved.

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed.

A stay-at-home mom, Sandra devoted her time and energy to her husband and children. From staying by the bedside of one who had a bad dream, to running kids to different sporting events, or casually asking on to get the horse out of the living room, she was always available and devoted to her family. Motherhood was her ministry.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she and Jimmy were active members in the bus ministry.

A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Sandra was precious to so many. She had faith in knowing, “What a day it will be when my Jesus I shall see.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Horrell, Sr.; precious daughter, Sheila Horrell Groves; dear sons, Allen Brown and Stanley Brown; and her son-in-law, Wayne Lowery.

Left to mourn the loss of Sandra is her daughter, Barbara Horrell Lowery (Casey Jones); son, Jimmy Lee Horrell, Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Joyce Horrell Crump (Stephen); son-in-law, Darrell Wayne Groves; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Sandra is also survived by her beloved and precious sister, Joanne Moses, and dear friends, Carolyn Parker, Bill and Karon McLeod, and Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5709 Murrayville Road, Wilmington, NC 28405. Interment will follow at Wells Chapel Baptist Cemetery, 2070 Wallace Highway, Harrells, NC.

Respected pallbearers are Austin Lowery, Tyler Horrell, Joshua Crump, Elijah Horrell, Arawn Hewitt, Tremayne Booker, and Omar Medel.

Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons, Clayton Lowery, David Medel, and Ethan Hewitt.
