Sarah Cain Gibson

Sarah Cain Gibson, 87, of Carolina Beach, passed away on June 29, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born April 21, 1927, in Sampson County to Esker and Tinnie Cain, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JD Gibson; and her brothers, Willis Cain, Malcolm Cain, Curtis Cain and Ernest Cain. She is survived by her son, Randy Gibson and his wife, Sue, of Carolina Beach; her granddaughters, Melissa Cline and her husband, David, of State Road and Stephanie Taylor and her husband, Eric, of Fuquay-Varina; five great-grandchildren, Miles, Sebastian, Jace, Liam and Joy Brook; and her sisters, Dorothy Hart of Garland and Betty Lambert of Durham. She graduated with a business degree from Mars Hill College. She enjoyed a career in accounting, working in Cumberland County for the Employment Security Commission and the Fayetteville Housing Authority. She retired as a Supervisor of Accounting at Fort Bragg. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00pm. Private entombment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. To honor her love of gardening, the family requests memorials be made to the New Hanover County Arboretum, 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
