Sarah Register

Born in Brunswick County on October 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William James Cook and Minnie Catherine Robbins Cook. She was preceded in death by her son, Carlie Kirby Porter Jr whom she cherished more than life itself.

Sarah was a hard worker and never met a stranger. She was the most loving, kind, and generous person. She was a loving Mama, Grandma, and great grandma. Two of her favorite hobbies were gardening and raising Koi fish. She had the most beautiful Koi fish ponds. She was an amazing baker who loved to cook for family and friend alike. Many will remember a meal in Sarah’s kitchen where everyone was welcomed and loved. To be the recipient of one of her cakes was a delicious treat.

She loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors often. If near the water and not fishing, she loved to search for seashells.

Leaving to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years, Johnnie Edward Register of the home; her daughter Cathy Register Grice and husband Bryan of Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers, John Cook(Rose) of Leland, NC and Duck Cook(Jackie) of Leland, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Patti Cook Coston of Leland, NC and Mrs. Mary Cook Willis of Oceanside, CA; her grandchildren, Fran Faircloth(Jason) of Rocky Point; NC; Stephanie Porter Pauley(Larry) of Leland, NC; Jonathan Porter(Shay) of Wilmington, NC; Matthew Grice of Raleigh, NC and Andrew Grice of Garner NC; five great grandkids, four great-great grandkids and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers who took care of her during her illness. Your love, patience, and care for our Wife and Mama will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Coble Funeral & Cremation at Greenlawn Memorial Park followed by a graveside service at the Robbins-Cook Cemetery located on Blue Banks Loop Rd NE, Leland, NC with Pastor Ken Long Sr. officiating.
