Sharon E Brown

Sharon Elizabeth Brown, beloved mother, daughter, sister, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Leland, North Carolina, on the morning of April 27, 2026. She was 72 years old.

Born on September 2, 1953, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Sharon carried with her the warmth, strength, and spirited nature that would define her life. She was a woman who loved deeply, laughed easily, and found joy in life’s simple pleasures and meaningful moments.

Sharon attended King’s College, where she built the strong foundation that would guide her throughout a successful and respected professional life. She began her career with Bell Labs and later worked in finance for AT&T, where her intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic were highly valued. Sharon went on to serve the public in municipal government as Township Clerk and Tax Collector for multiple local Township governments, roles she carried out with professionalism, care, and integrity. After many years of meaningful service, she retired to Compass Pointe in Leland, North Carolina.

Sharon is survived by her loving mother, Alice A. McCarthy; her sister, Mary Alice Senneca; her devoted children, Brian J. Brown and Meghan K. Brown; and her cherished partner of 25 years, Richard P. Byrne, whose companionship brought her great happiness and love. She was preceded in death by her former husband, John W. Brown.

In retirement, Sharon happily joined the golf club at Compass Pointe with her partner, Dick. Though she never considered herself a golfer, she truly treasured the friendships, laughter, and lasting relationships she formed within that wonderful community.

Above all, Sharon will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and friends. Her kindness, sense of humor, and caring heart touched many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories that will live on in all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Compass Pointe Golf Club, located at 2405 The Pointe Club Drive, Leland, NC 28451. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Sharon to come share memories, stories, laughter, and love in honor of her beautiful life.
