Sharon (Shari) Shari Ann Rees

Sharon (Shari) Ann Rees passed from this earth on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Shari is survived by her spouse, James (Jim) Bryant Rees; her daughters, Melynda (Mindy) Rees and Shannon Chappell (spouse – Greg); her mother, Virginia (Gini) Hooker and her sister, Carla Decker. In addition to her children, Shari is survived by four grandchildren; Tyler Messenkopf, Connor Messenkopf, Sydney Messenkopf and Alex Chappell.

Shari was born on February 19, 1943 in Newark, Ohio and attended Riverside-White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She earned her nursing diploma and became a registered nurse, dedicated to improving the health of others. Shari enjoyed her time working in labor and delivery at Phoenixville Hospital where she assisted in helping families experience the greatest moments of life – the birth of a child. When Shari wasn’t working, she could be found by a pool or on the beach, reading a book with a drink in her hand.

Shari married Jim on September 12, 1964 in Wooster, OH and over the next 50 years, the two enjoyed a lifetime of creating wonderful memories. Shari and Jim experienced life on the east and west coast as well as few states in between. They traveled to numerous states and countries for vacation but her greatest joy was being able to spend time with their children and grandchildren.

The family plans to celebrate the life of Shari in a memorial service to be held on Saturday, August 29th at 2pm at Coble Ward-Smith located at 3915 Oleander Drive in Wilmington, NC. There will be a brief reception after the service for fellowship opportunities with the family. For those planning to attend the service, the family would enjoy hearing stories and memories of Shari that made an impact in your life. Dress for the service is casual and in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Shari to either St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.StJude.org) or to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
